OUR MANAGEMENT APPROACH
In the not-for-profit sector, as in so many other human endeavors, it is leadership which makes the difference.
Philanthropic organizations need two kinds of leaders—the powerful, influential, affluent, dynamic businessman or woman who leads the institution and its board, and the competent, dynamic, professional staff person who manages and serves behind the scenes.
Harold J. Seymour, in his book Designs for Fundraising: Principles, Patterns and Techniques, said
“Let it never be forgotten, leadership in itself always is the key factor in success—no matter what the cause or whatever the scope of the challenge. Just as it is crucial to recruit the most powerful lay leadership, so too it is important to remember cheap help is the most expensive help, and the best investment any organization can make, at almost any price, is an investment in top staff—people with integrity, loyalty and competence.”
To summarize, it is the management team—not the product—which determines success or failure.
